October 17, 2009 — Fort Worth, Texas — Project WILD Workshop — Learn how to teach young people about ecology and wildlife using fun, hands-on educational activities. During the six-hour training workshop participants will sample activities and receive a curriculum and activity guide. Activities are adaptable for all grade levels, integrated with core subject curricula. Teachers, informal educators and youth group leaders may take the training. SBEC credit available for teachers. October 17, 2009 — Grand Prairie, Texas — Angler Education Instructor Training — This free workshop is open to anyone 18 or older interested in teaching the basics of fishing in their communities. The program provides the curriculum, equipment, materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce youth and families to fishing. Held at the North Texas Education Center

October 17, 2009 — Lake Mineral Wells: 13th Annual North Texas Skywatch Amateur Astronomer's Star Party — "The stars at night are big and bright ". Learn more about one of Texas' best natural resources the night sky. The star party is designed for amateur astronomers to get together and share ideas and experiences, learn new techniques, swap equipment and observe in a dark sky location. There will be a beginner's astronomy slide presentation at sunset. All park visitors are welcome and can learn about astronomy and to have a chance to see the night sky through a wide variety of telescopes
